The University of Bath was founded in 1852 as the School of Art, soon after the Great Exhibition of 1851. Later in 1975, the university emerged as a public institution in the name of Bath College of Higher Education after two high education institutes merged. In 1983, the Bath Academy of Art also joined the Bath College, and soon in 1992, the institute received the power of granting degrees to students. The Bath public institution changed its name in 1995 and transformed itself into a university in 2005. Since then, the university is addressed in the current name of Bath Spa University.
Bath Spa University is located in one of the largest and oldest sites of Newton Park since its inception. The campus of the university is known for its modern and advanced academic building equipped with smart classrooms and laboratories and other modern educational technologies and equipment. The library in the institution has a wide and unique collection of books and resources both in digital and printed form and offers service to the students and faculty for 24 hours.
